What sort of speed sensor is built in? The tablet will be GPS speed over ground, the sensor may be reading speed thru the water.

Citrus is not allowed. Prepared / cooked foods are generally OK.

I used Boat Life Life-Seal as recommended by BWY. Use a sharp knife to cut the old sealant when removing the window. Slide it around between the window and the fiberglass, cutting the sealant.

Many factors affect range including quality of the radio and antenna, height of antenna, terrain (VHF is line of sight).

That said it is the standard device to carry on a boat (along with a cell phone). SSB and ham might be carried offshore but I think more commonly it would be a sat phone or communicator like an InReach these days

But seriously what do define as long range? For coastal use, just about any VHF will do.

Mine doesn’t drop until I am slow or almost stopped. When stopped it drops in a few seconds. Something interfering?

Mountain lakes can be gusty and can be aloft and not visible on the surface. We’re always ready on the mainsheet to give it a ‘fisherman’s reef’

Everything we have runs on 12v so I only have an onboard charger that plugs in to shore power. No need for AC panel, invertor etc unless of course you’re planning for appliances. Check Pacific Yacht Systems for good YouTube videos on planning it out

The End to end race held in Sept goes north to south. Either way winds are generally unreliable in the summer and you should expect to be motoring lots if time is limited. Is there a bus running?

Put the solar outputs to the same terminals as where the shore charger is connected. Lots of good stuff on Pacific Yacht Systems Youtube channel.
