We have been running the Marinebeam LEDs throughout the boat for 9 years now and I must say… we swear by them.
It turns out the LED bulb we installed into the steaming light does not effect night vision. We did a trip from Blaine to Sucia island one year and arrived at 1am so the trip was done in the dark.Crab pot floats were slighlty illuminated and the deck was only very dimly lit. Truly, there was more light coming from my instruments than from any of the nav lights.
We are lookin to add another cabn light in the queen berth and will definitely be buying another Marinebeam LED.
Oh… we have had ZERO failures.Give Cascade Marine in Chilliwack a call. I was talking to them recently and they were clearing out some consignment and old stock. I was looking for a small motor for our dinghy, but they said all they had were ‘bigger motors’ I wasn’t thinking and so didn’t think to ask about a motor for your boat. Their number is: 1-800-663-2269

Yep. I’ve found the secret is to have the boat backing down VERY slowly to start the set. In my opinion, the only thing that’ll move a properly set anchor is and act if God… Or you’re pulling it up intentionally.
Overall, I’ve been pleasantly surprised at how easily it sets, deals with the bad manners of a Mac on anchor and changing wind direction.
…and yes, they are grey… You can take a look at mine this weekend. I also went with the chain specified in the Rocna brochure.
We have a 10Kg Rocna. We recently had Tickety-Boo, Schogun & Godi rafterd up together. Ours was the main anchor and held us without dragging and inch. To make sure, we used the radar to take some range readings after rafting up and again in the Morning.
In short our little 10Kg Ricna held 2 Macs and Schogun agains a breeze of upto 15kn over night.
I’m very impressed.
