The 2025 MYCBC Calendar is also available so you can start planning now. HIGHLIGHTS Mustang Survival was welcomed as the sponsor of the MUSTANG SURVIVAL SAFETY SAIL at the Blaine Regatta. Two new committees were formed. If you are interested in joining a committee, contact the MYCBCcommodore@gmail.com All meetings are online and committee work is scheduled to be finished by the end of January. Twenty members joined us for the September Club Night. The 2024-09-13 Minutes are in the Current Year Documents. Congratulations to Commodore Rick and Vice Commodore Kelvin on being elected by acclamation to continue in 2025. Any members who would like to volunteer for one of the many Bridge Positions should check out the job descriptions in the Club Bylaws and let the Commodore know of your interest. The Year End Dinner and Awards Night is planned for November 2nd. The cost has been reduced to $45 per person this year. Information about the event and how to order tickets can be found under the MacEvents Calendar. Deadline for tickets is October 18. Members are encouraged to keep a Logbook for their boat. Every year the club offers a MYCBC Logbook Award with a prize of free dues for next year. If you want to enter this draw, please send an email to the Commodore with the total miles you cruised this year. Even if you only got out a couple times you are eligible for this draw. Eleven boats attended this year’s raft-up with DragNFly, Saynomore, Later Mate, Gemini, Blue Glass, Little Missy, Jillybean, Windchime, Mist-A-Sea, and 2Wish’N in the raft and Out To See on the Dock. The Hike to Shallow Bay A Champagne re-naming ceremony for Little Missy Nine Boats and Ron on his bike arrived at the OTTER BAY MARINA for the PAST COMMODORE’S CRUISE. Teacher’s Pet, Windchime, 2Wish’N, Cedar Wind, Mist-A-Sea, Gemini, Saynomore, Rapture and Later Mate. Highlights included the Saturday Pizza on the Sunset Deck, Coffee and Treats in the mornings, day sailing each day or exploring the Island or swimming in the pool and the Sunday Night Potluck. On Monday half the fleet departed through Active pass for the trip home and the other half headed to Medicine Beach to anchor and then on to explore the Gulf Islands. Special thanks to Vice Commodore Kelvin for planning and organizing this event and Later Mate for picking up the pizza and their daughter Sydney for providing the car. Ten Member boats and 2 without boats attended the Commodore’s Cruise to the Port Sidney Marina. Highlights included the Meet and Greet social on Friday evening, Coffee and Treats Saturday followed by a cruise to Sidney Spit for a hike then more social time in the tent. Sunday started with coffee and treats followed by Peter’s tour the town walk, potluck dinner then concert in the park followed by the Fireworks. Those who were able to stay watched the Canada Day Parade on Monday followed by the build a boat race. TOUR THE TOWN Thanks Rear Commodore Peter for planning and organizing this event for us. Ten boats and 3 crew without boats attended this year’s MacRendezvous at the Union Steamship Company Marina on Bowen Island. The weather was great for arrival and the few showers that occurred did not dampen the spirits of our members. Highlights of the event included the Welcome Wine and Cheese… Saturday started with the Pancake Breakfast then on to the Dock Walk and Boat Tours followed by an awesome Potluck. The Door Prizes were awarded and the 50/50 draw completed before the featured UKELELE WORKSHOP. Thanks Michael for the great instruction. I am sure our members are well on the way to becoming ukelele stars. 11 boats and 7 extra crews showed up for this years event. Highlights included Friday dinner at Chada Thai Restaurant, Saturday morning VHF Presentation by Lydia and Rick, the Women’s Dock Talk by Cheryl, The Women’s Confidence Cruise coached by Darry, an afternoon sail for some boats and the Potluck featuring great food and a wonderful concert by Cheryl.
